Research helps us truly understand the needs of the communities we serve.

Identifying trends, demographics and specific challenges allows us to tailor our programs and services for maximum impact.

Research Project Measuring satisfaction in our STAR city programs.

The University of Ottawa’s Centre for Research on Evaluation and Community Services (CRECS) team helped us initiate a small-scale research project that focused on program satisfaction in STAR programs.

With the help of two doctoral students, we conducted a literature review and several focus groups with STAR participants, focusing on program satisfaction.

The Activity Enjoyment Survey will undergo further development and complement research that promotes a more equitable approach; children and youth share valuable insights and are empowered to practise agency and speak up about their experience. Note: Results TBD in April.

Services Map Mapping services available to children and youth across Ottawa.

CLK has been an active member of the Ottawa Child and Youth Initiative (OCYI) since 2017, with representation at the Research and Evaluation Task Group (RETG). The RETG manages large-scale research activities that benefit learning and development for all OCYI delegates.

In 2023, the RETG began a mapping project that will showcase the services available to children and youth across Ottawa. These will populate an interactive map for the OCYI website and provide data that will draw out interesting trends and identify gaps in service.
